FARM WORKERS SCARCE.

POSITION IN FRANKLIN. PUKEIvOHE, Nov. 20. The statement that many farmers were blaming the present shortage of farm workers to the fact that single men would not leave relief camps was made at a meeting of the Franklin County Council by Mr H. Wilcox. The clerk (Mr A. P. Day) said the local unemployment bureau was trying to get the unemployed out on farm work, and that it was meeting with some success was shown in the reduction of 20 men from the unemployed in the district two or three months ago. There were, however, no single farm workers in the camps. At present there were only six single men on the county relief schemes.
