ASHHURST.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) ASHHURST, Nov. 20. A meeting of the committee of the Ashhurst Defence Rifle Club was held on Friday evening, Mr W. G. Romloy presiding. After considering an application from the Linton Defence Rifle Club for permission to_ use the local range, the meeting was joined by delegates from the Linton Club, when provision was made for the range to be made available to this club as from the 17th instant. Arrangements were made for the early erection of extra targets and extension of the markers’ gallory, etc., the work to bo undertaken by the local club on behalf of the trustees of the Linton Club. It was decided that the range be under the control of the Linton Club from October to February each year. In view of the popularity of the ladies’ shoot, held last New Year’s Day, it was decided to repeat the event, members generally agreeing that it provided an excellent picnic outing. The Ashhurst Defence Rifle Club held a practice shoot on Saturday, the weather conditions being good. A light front wind, if watched, caused very little trouble to the marksmen, some fair scores being returned. Detailed scores are: —F. Booking, 28—34—62; S. Brookie. 31—31—62; J. Searlo, 30—31—61; L. Matthews, 30 —31— 61; R. A. Jones, 28—31—59.
