A GRADE. WOODVILLE WIN BY DEFAULT. In the A grade tennis competitions on Saturday, the Wodville team won from Pahiatua by default. MATCHES POSTPONED. Matches not played were the A grade fixture between Palmerston North and Feilding, and the B grade match Pahiatua v. Manawatu. St. Patrick’s B won by default from Terrace End. C GRADE. NORTHERN v. HOKOWHITU. The C grade match between Northern and Holcowhitu in the Manawatu Lawn Tennis Club’s competitions on Saturday was won by Northern by 8 sets to 7, though Manawatu won 88 games to their 79. Detailed results are as follow, the Northern players being mentioned first in each instance: — Men’s singles.—W. Hadfield lost to Greer 3—9, Reid lost to Hancock 1 — 9, It. Moxon lost to Small 4—9, J. Stevenson lost to Hadfield I—9. Ladies’ singles.—Miss S. Parsons beat Miss Heatley 7—l, Mrs J. Muggeridge beat Miss H. Pettigrew 7—2, Mrs J. Burrell beat Miss Heatley 7—4, Miss R. Lovelock beat Miss Pettigrew 7—4. Men’s doubles.—Hadfield and Reid lost to Greer and Hancock 3—9, Moxon and Stevenson lost to Hadfield and Small 3—9. Ladies’ doubles.—Miss Parsons and Mrs Muggeridge beat Misses Heatley and Pettigrew ’7—l. Mixed doubles.— Hadfield and Miss Parsons beat Greer and Miss Heatley 9—4, Reid and Mrs Muggeridge beat Hancock and Miss Pettigrew . 9—3, Moxon and Mrs Burrell beat Small and Miss Heatley 9—6, Stevenson and Miss Lovelock lost to Hadfield and Miss Pettigrew 2—9. BUNNYTHORPE BEAT WOODVILLE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) BUNNYTHORPE, Nov. 19. The first tennis competition match was played on the local courts on Saturday between Woodville and Bunnythorpe A, resulting in the local team being victorious. Afternoon tea was provided and the day being ideal, a most enjoyable match resulted. Details are as follow, Woodville players being named first. Men’s singles. —F. Graham beat L. Duthie, 10 —8; B. Ebbett beat H. Robson, 9—7; D. Ewing lost to L. Little, 4 —9; H. Jagor lost to J. Gore, 6 —9. Ladies’ singles.—Miss Mules lost to Miss E. Robson, 3—7; Miss Lynch lost to Mrs O’Sullivan, 6—B; Miss Sibbin lost to Mrs Williamson, 3 —7; Mrs Wright drew with Mrs O. Jackson 3 —3 (unfinished).

Men’s doubles. —Graham and Ebbett lost to Duthie and Robson, 5 —9; Ewing and Jagor beat Little and Gore 9 —7. Ladies’ doubles. —Miss Mules and Mrs Wright boat Miss Robson and Mrs O’Sullivan, 7—3; Misses Sibbin and Lynch boat Mrs Williamson and Mrs Jackson, 7—5.
