TOKOMARU.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) TOKOMARU, Nov. 20.
The Tokomaru Women’s Institute held a euchre party and dance in the hall on Friday in aid of the children’s Christmas funds. The evening was a great success. The winners of the euchre prizes were: Ladies, Mrs B. Dean 1, Mrs J. Mac Nab 2; men, Mr S. Lloyd 1, Mr C. Free 2. The euchre prizes were donated by members of the institute. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mrs S. Lloyd and Mr J. Anderson. Music was supplied by Mr J. ICnyvett and the duties of M.C’s. were carried out by Miss E. Corlett and Mrs H. Parr. Visitors were from Shannon, Opiki, and Makerua. The friends of Mrs R. Atkinson, who is an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital, will wish her a speedy recovery. Mrs B Dean, of Wellington, is on a visit to her brother, Mr R. Atkinson. Mr and Mrs J Vilo and family have left Tokomaru to reside in the North. Mr H. Jewell, of Wellington, is the guest of Mr and Sirs J Wells. Mrs G. Simpson has returned home to Palmerston North after spending a holiday in Tokomaru.
