BAKING COMPETITION.

In the baking competition beld in tlie Opera House, last evening, tbe first prize was won by Miss Joyce White; second, Miss Irene Wallis; and third, Miss M. Penketh. A special prize presented by Mrs Jensen was won by Mrs Mowlem. Miss Rawstron was also awarded a special prize. Mrs Jensen, who kindly acted as judge, was confronted with a most difficult task as the cakes of all the competitors were of exceptionally high quality.
