THIRTY YEARS AGO.

EXTRACTS FROM “ STANDARD.” NOVEMBER 20, 1904. Arrangements were being finalised for the visit of the All Black team to England in 1905. Both the English and the Welsh executive bodies had fixed a minimum of £SOO for the visitors at each Test match, while the All Blacks were to receive 75 per cent of the profits at those games. The summer meeting of the Manawatu Racing Club had 100 sovereigns as the minimum value for each race. The-Mana-watu Cup carried with it 500 sovereigns and the President’s Handicap 350 sovereigns. There were 306 pupils on tile roll of the Terrace End School. The average attendance for the month had been 257, reported the headmaster to a meeting of the committee.
