APITI.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) A PUT, Nov. 19. Mr W. McKay presided at a recent meeting of tho Apiti Domain Board. Also present were: Messrs C. H. Osborne, C. F. Vilos, W. J. Osborne, C. Spence, J. R. Stewart, C. Mclntyre, L. F. Gould and M. McKay (secretary). An apology for absence was received from Mr IV. Morris. Routine business was conducted and a tender for tho supply of blocks for a permanent stage at the hall accepted. After rain overnight, the weather conditions wore ideal for tho garden party held in aid of funds for tho Anglican Church at the residence of Mrs IV. J. Vilos on Wednesday. Tho gardens and lawns were looking very bright and fresh and provided a delightful background for tho well stocked stalls for the sale of sweets, sewing and produce. A variety of competitions lent added enjoyment to the afternoon. Afternoon lea was served by Mrs and Miss Vilos and Mcsdamos K. Waterson and S. White. Tho competition winners were: Ladder croquet, Mrs C. Stanley: nail driving, Miss Purnell and Mr Guhbins; quoits, Mrs Barnes; dock golf, Mrs Gubbins; butterfly limit, Miss R. Ilitchmau; rabbit throwing, Mr C. F. Vilos. Before presenting the prizes, the vicar (Rev. Mr Barnes) extended thanks to all who has assisted towards making the afternoon so successful, and a special vote of thanks was acordod Mr and Mrs W. J. Vilcs for tho use of their garden. Ladies in charge of the stalls were: Sewing, Mcsdamos A. Prujean and K. Stone; produce, Mrs F. Munro; sweets, Misses R. Hitchman and P. Swift. The competitions were organised by Mr and Mrs Barnes, Mesdaines C. Stanley, M. Martin and Misses Purnell and I. Waugh. Mrs M. Niecol, of Palmerston North, is visiting Mrs G. IT. Gubbins. Mrs and Miss Urquhart, ol Wadestown, Wellington, are spending a holiday with Mr and Mrs A. Vilos at Marton Block.
