GARDEN PARTY.

The deportment and discipline seen at the Palmerston North Girls’ High School was highly praised recently by an official visitor; and that it was warranted will be evidenced in tho demeanour of the pupils, and their prompt obedience to the commands of the drill-mistress, in tho spectacular physical cuture drill to bo presented at tho schoolgrounds, Fitzhorbcrt Avenue, to-morrow afternoon. Intelligent adroitnoss in millinery and dressmaking is an important female acquisition, and that it can bo acquired by-tho girl students will be pleasingly manifested at Wednesday’s garden party by_ a bright mannequin parade. A highly interesting exhibition of commercial art will be found in a class-room sot apart for posters obtained from all parts of the world; and advanced typing, commercial work, in addition to art nccdlwork and other artcrafts will display tho high standard of skill attained by pupils of the school. Games have not boon overlooked by tho committee of tho Parents' Association, and attractive stalls stocked with a variety of useful goods, has . been arranged by lady members. Afternoon tea, ice cream, and soft drinks will bo obtainable and a convenient bus service will ho found in the advertisement columns. Festivities will conclude in the evening with a danco at tho school. As the purpose of tho whole function is to provide funds for a muchneeded assembly hall it is deserving of support.
