AMENDED BILLS.
PROVISIONS AGREED TO
The amendments to the Mining Amendment Act and the Unemployment Amendment Act, which were suggested when these measures were before the Legislative Council, which haa not the power to insert them in the measures, were introduced by Governor-General s message and agreed to. In the Mining Bill the amendment provided that, if a dispute arose over assessing the damage to Ci own land or iand under the control of the Commissioner of State Forests, it should be referred to a Magistrate and two assess--01 in the Unemployment Bill the amendment provided for the removal of the retrospective reference to the collection of the emergency unemployment tax on
floating debentures. An amendment to the Finance Bill (No. 3) was also introduced by Gover-nor-General’s message. Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates said the purpose of it was to include farm lands in boroughs in the clause granting a rebate of 12£ per cent on rates on countv lands. The amendment was agreed to.
