FOXTON

FOXTON, Nov. 4.

Miss P. Wilkinson, of the nursing staff of the New Plymouth Hospital, is spending a holiday with Mr and Mrs D. ft. Ogilvy. Mr E. Gay, who lias been an inrnatc of the Palmerston North Hospital for some time, has returned to Fox toil. Friends of Mrs J. G. Honore, who is an inmate of tho Palmerston North Hospital, will he pleased to learn that there is a decided improvement in her, condition. Reports from the Hospital indicate that Messrs K. W. Bills and H. Walls and Mrs Skogstud. Foxton inmates in the institution, are all progressing favourably. On Friday evening tile employees gave a very enjoyable social in the Masocinc Hall, to farewell Mr G. Young who has been supervising the erection of the machinery at a local factory. Tho Mayor after welroming Mr Young expressed regret that ho would be leaving Foxton in a short lime. Mr Young suitably replied. The 58th birthday celebrations of All Saints’ Church took place yesterday afternoon. Some seventy children atiended the church service and hoard an address given by the Rev. 11. S. Kenney. At the conclusion of the service a social was held.

Tho monthly meeting of the Methodist Ladies’ Guild was held on Thursday at tho residence of Mrs 11. Berry. Thvnne Sttrct. Mrs McDonald (president) presided over tho gathering. Mention was made of the fact that two of the guild members were absent through sickness and a motion was carried for letters to be sent wishing

them botli a gpeedv recovery. A competition was won by Mrs A. Hobbs, of Oroua Downs. Items were rendered by Mrs J. F. Richer! Afternoon tea was provided by j the hostesses, Mesdames 11. Berry and J. I Clirystall. On Thursday evening members of the Presbyterian Choir met for the purpose of | farcwelling two of their number Misses M. and J. Stevenson, who arc leaving Foxton I shortly. Mr R. T. Betty (choirmaster) speaking oil behalf of the choir called on i Misses Stevenson to accept small tokens of allcction and esteem.
