EXEMPTED FROM TAXATION.

EDUCATION BOARDS. WELLINGTON, Nov. 3. Education boards are exempted from taxation by an amendment to the Finance Bill (No. 3) brought down in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon and incorporated in the Bill. In future every board shall be regarded as the agent of the Crown in respect of its property and the exercise of its functions, and shall be entitled accordingly to all the privileges which the Crown enjoys in exemption from taxation and the payment of fees or charges, and from other obligations. No education board, however will be entitled to recover any moneys it has paid before the passing of the Bill, if such moneys were properly payable at the time payment was made.
