WELLINGTON PRICES FIRM.

Sheepskins wero firm and hides showed a slight advance in some sections at the saio hold yesterday by the Wellington brokers. Some good lines of halfbred and fino crossbred sheepskins met strong competition, and sold at firm rates. Medium and coarse crossbreds also sold well, with a firmer tendency, but no quotable change in prices. Hides again sold well. Heavyweights remained firm on previous sale’s rates. An appreciation of Id to pi on medium and lightweights, and id to jd on yearling and kip, was recorded. Calfskins remained firm. A fair offering of tallow was offered, prices generally being about Is higher. The range of prices was as follows :

Prices of live poultry in the Wellington markets this week are quoted as follow : —Fowls: White Leghorn hens, 2s 3d to 2s 9d each; cockerels, 2s to 2s fid: pul ; lets, 3s fid to 4s. Black Orpingtons: Hens, heavy, 4s 6d to 4s 9d each; medium, 2s 6d to 3s 3d; cockerels, heavy, 3s to 4s; medium, 2s to 2s 3d. Ducks: Indian Runner, young, 3s to 3s 6d each; old, 2s 9d to fis 3d; White, heavy, 4s to 4s 6d. Goose: 4s to 5s each. Turkeys: 9d to lOd per lb.
