INFRA-RED PROCESS.
EGYPTIAN MANUSCRIPTS MADE LEGIBLE.
The extent to which the secrets of man and nature can be revealed by modern science is shown at the Modern Industrial Photography Exhibition, opened at the Princes Galleries, Piccadilly says the London News-Chron-tclo. By means of the new infra-red process; Egyptian manuscripts, 12U0 years old,’ and hitherto considered unreadable, can be made legible. The exhibits included enlarged photographs, supplied by the Metropolitan Water Board, of drops of Thames water, showing in the raw state thousands of microbes per drop, and in the purified water supplied to London none at all. There are medical studies of amazing detail, clear infra-red pictures of landscapes hidden in fog, and colour pictures so vivid that many visitors refused to believe' they were taken by the camera. How the camera helps crime investigation is demonstrated in a series of pictures showing different kinds of mud, mentioned in evidence at a trial; anthropological portraits taken with'an ordinary camera and with infrared rays, and an erasure produced at a forgery investigation.
