ARCHDEACON OF RANGITIKEI.
CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED
During the entertainment of the visiting choirs after the patronal festival of All Saints’ Church in Palmerston North on Thursday evening, the vicar (Canon G, Y. Woodward) took the opportunity to congratulate the new Archdeacon of Rangitikei, Canon F. H. Petrie, of Feilding, on his appointment to that position. He referred to Canon Petrie as a man of great wisdom, of a lovable nature and one who would be a great help as archdeacon. Mr J. Holmes Runnicles added his congratulations on behalf of the assembled choirs. . . Rev D J. Davies, vicar of St. Peter’s Church, Terrace End, said it was indeed opportune that Canon Petries first acts as archdeacon should be carried out at All Saints’ before all the clergy of his area. He added that there would have been disappointment if the choice of archdeacon had fallen on any shoulders but those of Canon Petrie Canon Petrie briefly replied to the congratulations extended.
