PACIFIC FLIGHT.
DELAYED BY OIL LEAK.
Received November 2, 11.25 a.m
HONOLULU, Nov. 1. An oil leak has been found in the plane Lady Kingsford Smith. Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, who was prepared to take off at noon to-day, delayed his flight to the Pacific Coast, probably for 24 hours. Army mechanics removed the motor from the plane to repair the oil system after finding a leak in the oil tank as Sir Charles prepared to take off at noon from the Wheeler Field for Oakland. He said a delay of 24 hours would set the time for his take-off as mid-day on' Friday. Sir Charles loaded 640 gallons this morning and installed a radio receiving set for weather reports and radio beacon signals. Sandwiches, beef tea and pineapple juice are in the plane. The weather reports show a tad wind at a high altitude, but there is cloudy weather here, with head winds below the clouds. The air was cleared of all planes for the airman before he announced his delay.
