ASCOT CENTENARY THOUSAND. CLOSING TIME SUCCESSFUL. MELBOURNE, Nov. 1. Results at the Ascot races to-day were:— ASCOT CENTENARY THOUSAND. First Division. CLOSING TIME (Bar-tie) 1 AIRKLOOF (Daniels) 2 PHENOMENON (Cann) 3 Ten starters. A neck; half a neck. Time, 1.13. Second Division. HEROS (Skidmore) 1 THE MARNE (Knox) 2 DOUBLE BARD (Breasley) 3 Thirteen starters. A neck; a length and a half. Movie Star was fourth. Time, 1.131. ASCOT CUP. PETAU (Moran) 1 SARCHERIE (Lightfoot) 2 HIGHWAY (O’Sullivan) 3 Seventeen starters. Half a length; a neck. Exeelic was fourth. Time, 2.6. The New Zealander Volovent was fourth in the Cook Handicap, second division. Journey’s End ran poorly in the first division. V.R.C. DERBY. ELEVEN FINAL ACCEPTORS. MELBOURNE, Nov. 1. Final acceptors for the Victorian Derby are:—Farndale, Spearflash, Aztec, Curator, Marabou, Verberry, Theo, Sylvandale, Gladswood, Hyperion, and Allenby. Conditions were ideal for training operations to-day. At Caulfield, on the steeplechase grass, Rogilla, going in his best style, went seven furlongs in 1.29 J. Epigram, Nightly, and Silver Ring finished together over the same distance in 1.29. At Flemington, on the course proper, Chatham went seven furlongs in 1.29, the last five furlongs with Vista in 1.3. Turbine and Miss Nottava did six furlongs in 1.161. Peter Pan went six furlongs in 1.181, and Australia Fair five furlongs in 1.3. Journal and Oro went nine furlongs in 1.581, the last mile taking 1.44. Theo and Sylvandale finished together over a mile and a half in 2.51. The last four furlongs took 501.
