THE SPRING SHOW
LIGHT RAIN FALLS. LARGE AFTERNOON CROWD. Though not really had, the rveather continued to ho unfavourable for the Spring Show when the exhibition was continued this afternoon, light and intermittent showers of rain falling. It was a little disconcerting, but not such as to keep patrons continually under shelter. There were indications that it would not deter a large crowd from witnessing the grand parade and ring events.

PETITION
Over fifty hoys took part is the. junior (secondary schools) Jersey cow judging competition, which resulted as follows :
Cleve Mochen (P.N.8.H.5.) 1 Ken Davidson (P.N.8.H.5.) 2 Gordon Barlow (P.N.8.H.5.) 3 Geo. Murray (Whalcatane) 4 Subsequently the prizes were presented by Mr D. Collis (president of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association), who congratulated the winners and expressed the hope that lie had before him some future cattle judges. Mr J. A. Russell, speaking on behalf of the Manawatu Jersey Club, said that the competition had been promoted by that organisation in collaboration with the A. and P. Association and Mr J. J. Stevenson (agricultural master at the Palmerston North Boys’ High School), and it had been a marked success. A demonstration was then carried out for the benefit of the boys by the dairy cattle judge. Subsequently Mr Stevenson returned thanks to the Jersey Breeders’ Club, Mr Collis and the A. and P. Association, adding that it was a great opportunity to give the boys instruction m animal husbandry.
