WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE.

YESTERDAY'S BUSINESS AND PRICES. There -was a firm tone in the Wellington stock and share market yesterday. Government loans wero quiet, with a preponderance of sellers. Bank shares were fairly active. Reserve Bank advanced to sales at £6 11s 6d, and New Zealand were done at 48s 9d. Australasia were wanted at £ll 10s, and Commercial of Sydney at £l7. National of New Zealand were firm at 70s. No change was seen in the financial section. New Zealand Guarantee Corporation sold at 5s 5d and 5s ssjd. Christchurch Gas wore firm at 345, and the 10s paid were quoted at 16s. Wellington Gas were unchanged at 41s. Queensland Insurance were Is up at 525. Standard Insurance eased to 69s 6d, and National were wanted at 21s. Kaiapoi Woollen advanced to 14s 6d, and Wellington Woollen preference to £5 12s 9d, tho ordinaries being unchanged at £5 11s 6d. Breweries were firm, Staples moving to 30s 6d, and luis to 57s 6d. New Zealand were quoted at 49s 6d, sellers 50s 6d. Timber issues were in better demand, Kauri at 19s, LeylandO’Bricn at 22s 3d, and National at 14s 3d. Industrial and trading issues were the most active section of the market. Colonial Sugar had two sales at £77 10s, and Henry Jones were firmer on a deal at 33s 6d following the dividend announcement. ’ Wool worth (N.Z.) preference sold at 40s, and the ordinaries advanced to £8 2s 6d, sellers coming m at £8 Ids. Australian Glass gained Is 6d at 54s Electrolytic Zinc preference firmed to obs, ana Dental and Medical Supply to Bs. Mining shares were in stronger demand. Waihi eased to 375.
