JOYOUS PEOPLE.

GERMAN CHURCH SITUATION. Received November 1. 1.45 p.m. BERLIN, Oct. 31. Protestants throughout Germany today celebrated Herr Hitler’s capitulation with the fervour of the early Lutheran Christians. Long white flags bearing purple crosses, the German Evangelical Church's banner, again flew in Berlin’s streets instead of the Nazi swastikas which Bishop Mueller had ordered to replace them while, throughout the country the followers of the 7000 pastors who had defied Bishop Mueller met in public halls to celebrate simultaneously the end of the persecution and the anniversary of the Reformation. Their former churches are still closed to them, but it is only a matter of days before the “rebel pastors” regain control of tlieir churches and the organisation.
