LONDON, Oct. 31. In the' House of Lords, Lord Melcliett drew attention to the unco-ord-inated state of industry in Britain as compared with the United States, Italy, Germany, Japan and Russia. He sought the Government’s intentions regarding the rationalisation of industry and intimated his intention of introducing a Bill on the subject. Lord Hailsham, in reply, said that plans for reorganisation should come from the industries themselves. Govrneiit assistance would he forthcoming when it was sought. The Gov* eminent was not ashamed of its past three years’ record as the country’s production had increased, exports liad revived, and unemployment had decreased.
