Sevlral very fine floral tributes were placed on the coffin. The Waiineha Football Club held a dance at Waikanae on Friday night. Mr W. G. Russell was secretary, and Mr F. Meyer carried out the duties of M.C. About 18 months ago some small white stones and a few weather-beaten bones were unearthed by the wind, and although causing some speculation as to how they got there, were not examined. Some of the remains having been sent to the curator of the Dominion Museum, a reply has been received stating: “The bones forwarded by you for identification are those of a moa. All are incomplete and, therefore, are not easily identified.” The remains were found about half a mile north of the golf links, near the top of some high sand hills on the property of Mr W. M. Simcox.
