RONGOTEA
(Prom Our Own Correspondent). RONGOTKA, Oct. 29. A -coming-of-agc party in honour of Miss Lily Glover, daughter of Mr and Mm J. C. Glover, of liongotea, was celebrated last Friday evening. The borne of Mr and Mrs J. Glover, senr., was the scene of the gathering, and the spacious sittingroom ivas occupied by a large company of relatives and friends who cuine from far and near. The proceedings were in charge of Air 1.. H. Yarrall and at, the beginning all joined in a hymn of praise, and prayer. A brief programme of musical items was gone through, those taking part being Misses E. Noel and M. Hunt, Messrs A. Pedley, A. ltowe, N. Petersen, and J. Smith. The elders adjourned to the sit-ting-room and enjoyed a quiet chat,, with an occasional item on the radio, while the young folk, led by Mr Pedley, spout a merry time with games, etc. Late in the evening all met together again to partake of supper, and the guest of the evening was tailed on to cut the beautifully decorated cake. Air Yarrall, on behalf ot the guests, wished Miss Glover all future happiness and referred to her work among thp young people, especially that carried out in the Sunday school where her efforts were much appreciated both by the scholars and parents; she was striving to help the boys and girls she caine in contact with to build up character. Mr Yarrall presented Miss Glover with a golden key. Mr Glover, senr., added his congratulations, and stressed the value of faithful witness for God. Mr Hilary Rowe also expressed bis pleasure at being present Several of the young people endorsed what the seniors liad said, and Miss Glover suitably responded. The pronouncing of the Benediction brought the gathering to a close. It is with much regret we learn of the death of Mrs R. A. Barry, of Palmerston North. Mrs Barry came to Rongotca from England some years ago, and lived with her brother, Mr A. Cocker, 'J’aipo Road. She was much esteemed for her readiness to liolp wherever her skill as a nurse could be of assistance. Since her marriage to Mr Barry she had lived in Palmerston North. The sympathy of many residents of this district will be extended to the husband and brother in their bereavement.
