CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS.

WARSHIPS IN PORT

MELBOURNE, Oct. 29. The sixth overseas warship to honour the Centenary celebrations was welcomed to-day” when the United States cruiser Augusta arrived from Shanghai. Admiral Upliam was honoured by an artillery salute. He expressed pleasure at having arrived during Navy Week. The eight warships now in port are giving displays daily. A three-day naval pageant at the showgrounds will be held at Tflie end of the week. The bad weather, which spoiled many events last week, appears to have lifted. A bright sun shone to-day, which was unfortunately an off-day in the Centenary programme. Figures reveal that the total attendance for the nine days of the Royaj Show was 224,479, a decline of 48,697 on last year. Though it was the best show ever held here, bad weather and the counter-attractions of the Royal visit affected the attendance.'
