WHEAT TRADING
REGULATION OF FUTURE 3 MARKET.
URGED FOR WINNIPEG.
TO RESTRICT FLUCTUATIONS.
(United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received October 30, 9.15 a.m. OTTAWA, Oct. 29.
Regulation of the futures trading in wheat on the Winnipeg Grain Exchange was urged by Mr J. I. McFarland, general manager of the central selling agency wheat pools and agent of the Dominion Government. Mr McFarland did not detail how the regulation should be effected, but referred to the quantitative trading restrictions by the Chicago Board of Trade and the limits of price fluctuations effective there. The statement follows, long conferences with the Premier (Mr R. B. Bennett) and comes on the heels of an alleged recent effort by foreign market operations to beat down the prices in Winnipeg.
