annual meeting

Air G. J. Fitzpatrick, chairman of directors, presided at the annual meeting of shareholders of the Feilding Permanent Building and Investment Society yesterday afternoon. Speaking to the report and balancesheet (previously published), the chairman felt that shareholders could congratulate themselves on a successful year. It had been a most trying time l'or the directors, but careful lnanngement had resulted in the paying of a very satisfactory interest rate.

Referring to building matters generally. Air Fitzpatrick stated that while quiet times had been experienced, he thought that tile present low building costs and land values afforded an excellent opportunity to those ..contemplating building a home. He could not see that any better chance than that the present contained would offer itself in this directio,n and it was the aim of the society to help those who wished to act.

The report and balance-sheet were adopted and the resolution authorising the payment of a dividend to investing shareholders passed. The retiring directors, Alessrs G. J. Fitzpatrick and K. M. Little, were re-elected. AH A. H. Alaguire was re-elected auditor. A tribute to the work of the chairman was made by Air AV. E. Carthew and endorsed by Air J. Graham.

The meeting also placed on record its appreciation of the work of the manager (Air Edmund Gooclbeliere).
