QUEEN CARNIVAL.

SACRED CONCERT. The State Theatre failed to accommodate the crowd desirous of attending the sacred concert presented by the Palmerston North Garrison Band entertainment committee, last night, to further the candidature of the band queen, Miss Beryl Oakley. The presence of Mr Ivan Perrin, the professional pianist, proved to be a great attraction. Mr T. Simpson ably fulfilled the duties of stage manager, and the lengthy and varied programme was presented expeditiously. Every performer was enthusiastically received, and at the conclusion of the entertainment. Mr W. H. Brown returned

thanks on behalf of Miss Oakley and the committee to the performers who had so generously given their services, ajid to the public for their support. The programme as submitted was : Mr F. Gedson, xylophone solo; Miss Myra Wilson, vocal solo; Mr A. Sundborn, guitar solo; Mr Ivan Perrin, pianoforte novelties; Misses Thompson and Reed, sketch; Virginian Masqueraders, sextette; Mr Roy Lester ; saxophone solo; Mrs R. Almira, Maori song; Mr Perrin, pianoforte selection; instrumental trio, Messrs Perrin (piano), Gedson (xylophone) and Max Jordan (bass fiddle). The accompaniments were played by Mrs Barlow and Miss Thora Rodden.
