OTTAWA AGREEMENT BENEFICIAL.

The former Prime Minister of Canada (Mr Arthur Meighen), who is present Leader of the Canadian Senate, arrived to-day by the Niagara eii route to Melbourne to represent Canade at the Centenary. He sa.id Canada was doing very well, every index of recovery being l favourable, but Canadians felt they would be better off if conditions in the United States were more stable and the immediate future there was more certain.

The Ottawa agreements had manifest important and excellent results. As an illustration, trade between Canada and New Zealand had improved. New Zealand’s sales to Canada up to March 31 were about 150 per cent in excess of those for the year previous to the agreement, while Canadian sales to New Zealand had improved about 20 per cent.
