WANGANUI MALE CHOIR.
TO VISIT PALMERSTON NORTH.
On Tuesday evening next, tho 30th inst., at 8 p.m., the Wanganui Male Choir is to give a recital in Rosc-o tea rooms. This combination of singers is well-known as one of tho loading male choirs of the Dominion, and Palmerston North lovers of this class of music arc fortunate in having tho opportunity of hearing this talented body. The choir has had an unbroken career of 36 years and during the whole of that period has not failed in giving at least two concerts to its subscribers every year. The conductor is Mr F. Wentworth Slater, A.R.C.0., who has had a great career in choir training in the Old Country, having had sixteen first places awarded his choirs out of 16 starts in English competitive festivals. Mr Slater lias been the conductor of tho Wanganui choir for tho last six years. Included in numbers which tho choir will sing are such favourites as the. “Hymn Before Action” (Davies), “Evening’s Pastorale” (Shaw), _ the negro spiritual “Deep River” (Burleigh), “Shadow March” (Protheral), “Comrades in Arms” (Adam), “Simon the Cellarer” (arr. Newton), “Border Ballad” (Maunder). With such a diversified programme the tastes of everybody arc being catered for and the choir will' be heard in the varying moods _ demanded by the compositions being interpreted by them. The patrons of the concert are assurod of a most enjoyable musical feast. The assisting artists arc 1 Mrs Stella Mills (contralto), Mr Collin Browno (tenor), and Mrs Freda CunningbAip, (piano).
