AN UNUSUAL CAREER.
Quite a flutter of excitement has has been caused amongst the well dressed members of our community by tile advent of a notable expert in clothes designing and cutting. To a member of our staff, it was mentioned, that the services of Mr K. It. O’Halloran had been obtained by the House of Stevens, Ltd. Air O’Halloran is known to many persons who patronise highclass leading tailoring establishments in our chief cities, and they have been outspoken -in their commendation of him as an outstanding cutter. Before coming to New Zealand Air O’Halloran fulfilled cutting contracts with such eminent films as “Brainsons,” Fifth Avenue, New Y’ork, and Gilmore Jenkins, Alark Lane, London. Gilmour Jenkins was also editor of a leading fashion journal. This unique experience largely helped to make Air O’Halloran a practical expert. As the “American Tailor and Cutter” so truly says;— “Wherever a firm had a reputation for a speciality, Air O’Halloran sought employment with them, thereby -rounding out his knowledge to the fullest.’ “L’Elegance, Paris,” says: “His work was produced with absolute precision and elegance.” “Thornton’s Review of London Fashions” says: “Air O’Halloran, to whom we are indebted for the particularly smart model of a lounge coat, shown on the opposite page, is one of that judicious school of tailors, who believe in personally investigating the views on practical topics, entertained by their fellow craftsmen throughout the world. He is a good . type of our enterprising Colonials.” Mr O’Halloran has written instructional articles on the difficult art of cutting, for the leading fashion journals in New York, Pans, and London. He has taken away from these fashion centres no less than seven diplomas and three gold medals, a truly remarkable performance which has seldom been equalled. These medals, diplomas, and editorials may be seen at the House of Stevens, Ltd., Coleman Place. They constitute undeniable proof of the truth of these statements, and prove that Air O’Halloran is one of the world’s well known cutters. “Well, that’s all right for those who can afford to pay fancy prices,” we commented, to which Air C. R. Stevens replied: “Now here’s good news: The House of Stevens means to meet the cost of this engagement out of increased turnover, and will adhere to the present moderate prices. You may have a quality suit or costume cut by .Mr O’Halloran personally, and also enjoy the triple fitting service—three fittings before the garment is completed, that has always been a feature of ‘Stevens’ tailoring. The advantages of this offer are obvious. Just consider Your suit or costume will be cut by an expert of world-wide experience, therefore every detail will be scrupulously exact, both in make and style. Add to this combination, .our triple-fitting service, the result will be that rare creation, a perfectly tailored garment. Anticipating a heavy volume of orders before Christmas, patrons will no doubt place their orders without delay so that they may secure full advantage of Mr O’Halloran’s sendees, and be sure of obtaining delivery in time.” Address: The House of Stevens, Ltd., Suit and Costume Specialists, Coleman placej Palmerston North. ’Phone 7450. 50 High Street Dannevirke. —Published by arrangement.
