PRIMARY SCHOOLS PLAY,
The cricket competitions which are conducted under the direction of the Manawatu Primary Schools’ Association have been advanced during the week and results of the matches played are : SENIOR. Colleo- e Street 152 (Collis 96, Brougham 15, Tunnicliffe 14) defeated Convent 44 (Ryder 10, McSweeney 10). Central 39 defeated Hokowhitu 23. Bowling for the former, Hearsey took threo wickets for 7 runs and Rush 5 for 16. For Hokowhitu, Bennett took 3 for 5 and Armstrong 3 for 5. Convent 36 (Ryder 18) defeated West End 23. For the former McSweeney took 6 for 4 runs, Ryder 2 for 9 and bowling for West End Hatcli took 7 for 14, and Trask 2 for 4. Terrace End 77 (Hicken 42, W’aldegrave 13) defeated College Street 22. This signalled the first defeat of the latter team. Bowling for Terrace End Arlidge took four wickets for 11 runs, Kitching 3 for 10, and for College Street Collis 4 for 26 and Downes 5 for 42. JUNIOR. Central 35 (Adcock 10) defeated Collego Street 23. For the former Burrows took eight for four, including the “hat trick.” Bowling for College Street, Hill took 3 for 3 and Dansby 5 for 21. Russell Street 58 (Rabone 34) defeated Hokowhitu 39. Convent 61 (Hickey 13, O’Neil 16, Jenkins 12) defeated College Street 23. Russell Street 70 (Rabone 54, not out) defeated Terrace End A 17. This was the first defeat of the latter team. Convent 50 (Clifford 11, Hood 19) defeated West End 25 (Perry 16).
