(From Our Own Correspondent.) SANDON, Oct. 25.

Thcro was a good attendance at tho weekly practice of the Table Tennis Club. The Dwyer Button (A grade) was won by A. Matthews; the Nicol Button (B grado) by G. Williams, and the Weston Smith Button (C grade) by C. Oppatt. The season will terminate on the 27th inst., when singles in all grades, and the doubles championships will be decided. To mark the end of the season the club will hold the first annual dance in November, and it is hoped that many clubs will be rerepresented. Last Monday six members of the club journeyed to Feilding to participate in a tourney in Makino. Last Tuesday night 16 members of the Halcombe Club played a friendly match with the local club at Sanson, resulting in a win for the home club in both grades. ScoresSandon B 23, C 22; total 45; Halcombe B 17, C 16; total, 33. Mr Clark, on behalf of Halcombe, thanked Sandon for the evening’s entertainment, and said that a return visit would be welcomed at the beginning of next season. .Mr Clark also thanked the ladies for the supper. Mr N. Butler responded. In beautiful weather the Sandon Tennis Club held its opening day on Labour Day There was a large number of members and visitors present, including members of the Halcombe Club. Mr A. Sanson, after declaring the courts open, stressed the need for keenness, and for all members to have a good club spirit. IVIr Sanson expressed the hope that in the near future the courts would be a beauty spot in the recreation grounds, as the club hoped to form a garden round the courts within a short time. Mr Sanson extended sympathy to the relatives of the late Mr W. Pearce, of Colyton. During the afternoon children’s sports were conducted, after which afternoon tea was served to all present.
