RONGOTEA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) RONGOTEA, Oct. 25. The most ambitious programme yet staged by the Rongotea Women’s Institute was presented last evening in the Coronation Hall before a crowded audience. All flic parts in throe playettes that were performed were taken by members of the local institute, even to that of a hefty policeman in full uniform. Some of the impersonations were very clever, and the results achieved were evidently due to considerable training and attention to detail. Musical items by Mrs 11. Dafter (who is the senior member of the institute) are always well received, and last night slio was recalled twice. A monologue by Miss Cranston entitled “Her” was outstanding. Mrs R. Scott (president) oxpi'cssed pleasure at the very gratifying attendance, and asked all to join in the opening chorus, “Ode to Friendship.” This was followed by a pianoforte duet by Misses M. Will and D. Matheson and a recitation by Miss Cranston. The playette. “Five O’clock Rush,” was performed by Mesdames Morcom, Caverhill, Collins, G. Hunt, Jeffs, C. Davison, Trcnkner, and 11. Dafter, Misses Buchanan, Will Rose, Davis, Tunnioliffe, Hobbs, and Knight. Other items were:— Recitation, Miss Bower; musical items, Mrs Dafter; playette, “The Accident” by Mrs Scott and Mrs G. Hunt, Misses Davis and Tunnicliffe; monologue, Miss Cranston; pianoforte solo, Miss Will; playette, “Neighbours,” by Miss L. Davis and Miss R. Tunnicliffe. Supper was handed round and a dance followed.
