CHURCH IN GERMANY.
RESIGNATION OF OFFICIAL. (United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received October 27, 1.55 p.m. BERLIN, Oct. 26. Dr Jaeger lias resigned. He sent a letter to Bishop Mueller stating: “After fulfilling the task of organising the Evangelical Church, I return the ecclesiastic and political functions to you. Internal reconstruction of the Church is essential, but it is only possible with the country’s active co-opera-tion and, ill view of thin, I propose the formation of a council of Bishops to assist you in it.” The Bishops met Bishop Mueller and appointed an advisory council. Orders against interfering may be given to all Government organs, leaving the Church to settle their own affairs.
