FIGHTING IN KWANGTUNG.

ADVANCE BY REDS. HONG KONG, Oct. 25. Following weeks of apprehension, 90,000 Reds massed and crossed the Kwangtung border from Iviangsi, making desperate onslaughts on the frontier defences. Cantonese troops are being rushed to the localities affected, and are fighting gallantly, but it is reported that one brigade was annihilated.' It is reported from Chiukwan that fighting is developing on all fronts from Tayu to Chun-mun-ling, and that the Reds a.re battering the Cantonese lines. Two air squadrons left Canton with the intention of counter-attacking. Refugees are pouring into Canton.

Canton is the chief city of the province of Kwangtung. Kwangsi is the adjoining province, on the inland side.
