CASE AT MELBOURNE. Received October 26, 10.40 a.m. MELBOURNE, Oct. 26. At an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death of the McKenzie children, the Coroner committed Mrs McKenzie for trial on a charge of murder.

Three children were drowned at Cowes, Phillip Island, though their mother, Mrs Ena McKenzie, aged 40, was rescued. A young man, Bryant West, saw the woman struggling in the water near the end of the pier and dived in and brought her ashore. Later the body of Ronald McKenzie, aged 5, was recovered, but the bodies of Ena, aged 4, and Douglas, aged 8 months, were washed out to sea.
