CASES AT DUNEDIN. Per Prp'-'R Association. DUNEDIN, Oct. 25. William James Strang, of Invercargill, was acquitted in the Supreme Court today before Mr Justice Kennedy on a charge of negligently driving a motor car at Clarendon am! thereby causing tire death of a motor cyclist. Charged with housebreaking, Robert Kirkness pleaded guilty. The charge was that on July 25 lie broke and entered the dwelling of Michael Costello at Otokin and stole therefrom Is Oil arid goods to the value of £l3 18s 9J. Accused was remanded till Monday for sentence. CASE AT WELLINGTON. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Oct. 24. The whole of to-day was taken up in' the Supreme Court trial of Arthur Cudby, aged 36, and Mervyn John Cudby, aged 32, on charges of housebreaking. The charges have been divided into sections of five each and the hearing of the first section is proceeding. The Crown Prosecutor said, inter alia, that the police had found that accused between them banked £lO6 between June 1 and August 20. After 12 witnesses had been beard the case was adjourned until to-mor-row. Detective Robinson said there seemed to have been an epidemic of housebreaking between approximately June 1 and the date on which accused were arrested, August' 22. After their arrest the epidemic ceased immediately.
