DISPLAY AT CARTERTON. CHAMPIONSHIP AND DISTRICT AWARDS. The AVairarapa and East Coast Agricultural and. Pastoral Society’s 58th annual Show opened at Carterton yesterday in beautiful weather. Following hard work by the committee, everything was in readiness for the fixture, though severe damage had been done to the grounds and buildings three weeks ago by a hurrica.ne. With large stock entries and high- quality represented, the display was one of the best yet held.

Pleasure at the exhibition was expressed by the society’s president (Mr C. L. Reynolds), who voiced his appreciation of the support given by the exhibitors, also the hard-working committee wb.o had prepared the grounds. Among the stock judges were Messrs H. Voss (Karere), open Romneys; L. B. Wall (Kairanga.), open Southdowns; H. E. Thurston (Makino), pig classes; I. Andrew (Marton), Corriedales; J. A. Russell (Palmerston North), natural condition Southdown ewes; N. J. Short (Feilding), R.omnev Marsh rams; and K. W. Deighton (Marton), fat lambs. Awards have been made as follow : CHAMPIONSHIPS.
