RELEASE OF CAPITAL
REPORTED GERMAN DECISION. EFFECT ON WOOL SALES. BUYING IN AUSTRALIA. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received August 4, 9.25 a.m. , LONDON, Aug. 3. The Yorkshire Observer mentions that there is a strong rumour current bearing on the wool position that the British representatives who went to Berlin have reached an agreement for a moro or less satisfactory liquidation of Germany's overdue accounts and the release of capital for further trading. This indicates that Germany is realising the need for increased raw materials and has, therefore, increased the likelihood of German support at the Australian wool sales. LANCASHIRE DECISION. FIFTY THOUSAND AFFECTED. Received August 4, 1.10 p.m. LONDON, Aug. 3. The Lancashire cotton yarn exporters, at a special meeting, decided to suspend all deliveries to Germany pending a satisfactory settlement of the outstanding German dsbts, estimated at half a million sterling. This affects 50,000 cotton operatives. |
