Light rain fell all day and the track was slow and muddy. Totalisator investments amounted to £8893 10s, compared with £18,875 10a on the King’s Birthday last year. Hooper) ... 3 The only starters. Avernus had command after two furlongs had been covered and, passing the stands, was a length clear of Master Roy, with Rollo live lengths farther back. Over the next circuit the field remained unchanged, but half a mile from home Rollo drew up to Master Roy. In an interesting run home Rollo beat Avernus by a neck, with Master Roy three lengths away. Reporter turned for home clear of Eureka Boy and Somerby, but Gold Tinge finished strongly and won by a length from Somerby, with Reporter a neck away and Eureka Boy fourth.
