Mr Jack Stevenson, son of Air and Airs R. J. Stevenson, Otaki Railway, was admitted to the Palmerston North Hospital on Sunday, hie condition being serious. Air T. Stevens, who had to have stitches inserted in a scalp Wound as the result of an accident in the Otaki-Rahui football match on Saturday, is reported to be doing well. He also received a painful injury to his leg and a badly dislocated thumb. Mr M. Nikora, who was injured in the Hui AJai-Otaki match, had to have a head wound stitched.
The Anglican social, held at the Parish Hall on Alonday night, was one of the most successful held to date. There was a splendid attendance and music was supplied by Miss Utiku, while the supper was appreciated. Bridge was indulged in, Airs Sell proving the prize-winner. A lour ball bogey competition was held on .the Otaki golf links on Saturday and resulted as follows:—P. Takiwi and B. Ryder, 5 up; W, H. Wills and W. D’Ath, 4 up; N. Benge and F. L. Young, 3 up.
The Alanakau Alethodist Church was tho scene of a social evening held for the purpose of extending a welcome to Rev. J. R. Nelson and Airs Nelson on their taking up work in the Otaki circuit. Rov. W. Slade, of Levin, presided over a good attendance and tendered greetings to the guests of the evening, who, he said, had been his neighbours in former circuits as ■well as at the present time. The greetings and good wishes of the congregation were conveyed by Afessrs L. H. Atkins and W. J. Willis, and Mr J. R. Nelson suitably responded.
