SYDNEY POLITICAL MEETING. LANGITES INTERRUPT MR SCULLIN. BANKING POLICY EXPOUNDED. (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received May 24, 8.5 a.m. SYDNEY, May 24. Mr J. H. Scullin, Leader of the Federal Opposition, addressed a large and lively meeting at the Sydney Town. Hall last night on the prevailing disunity in the Labour ranks, blaming the disruptive tactics of the Lang forces, which were now attempting to gain additional support in Victoria and South Australia. Mr Scullin also expounded his banking policy, declaring for radical monetary reforms and the restoration of the nation’s bank, namely, the Commonwealth Bank, utilising its fullest powers for the mobilisation of the nation’s credit to enable it t,o carry on its industrial undertakings and relieve the crushing interest burden. Mr Scullin added that deadening deflation must be definitely arrested. The meeting was constantly interrupted by rival Labour factions and was at times uproarious. Tlie police were kept extremely busy ejecting the disturbers. ( There was a violei/t scene when a mob of Langites rushed the narrow staircase leading to the platform. They were met by a crowd of Mr Scullin’s friends oh the platform and fists flew in all directions. Three youths were felled before the police intervened and quelled the disturbance.
