Considering the adverse conditions under which he was required to play, the local (Linton Street) entrant at the Dominion junior liard-courts tennis championships at Auckland, John Cope, acquitted himself very well. Owing to delay in the arrival of the official notification, Cope only arrived at Auckland at 9.45 a.m. and was required to be at the courts ready for i>lav at 11 a.m. or scratch. He met Alorrison, AVellington junior champion, in the first round, and was beaten fairly easily. Alorrison eventually progressed to the semi-finals. In the Boys’ Junior Plate, Cope met and heat AVliite, Alarlborougli junior champion, 6 —2, 6 —5. He next encountered Jones (Taranaki) who proved the victor at 6—2. 6 —2. Jones, continuing in excellent form, made Ins way to the final.
