ESCAPED PRISONER ARRESTED.
CHARGES AT PALAIERSTON NORTH. Having been at liberty since he escaped from the exercise yard at the Palmerston North police station on March 17, William AVallace Clifford, a labourer, aged 25 years, has been ar3'ested at Hawera. He was to arrive back in Palmerston North by this afterjioon’s train. Clifford was held on two charges of theft from dwellings, one involving jewellery valued at a considerable amount. Ho will now appear on those two charges and also a third of escaping from custody.
