If apples are sent to sleep during the winter they cannot get into mischief, but remain pure and fresh, said experts at the Royal Agricultural Show at Westminster, where they featured apples which, last September* were put into a chamber filled witL carbon monoxide and when recently opened were found with the flavour and condition perfect. The method is a vast improvement on cold storage.
