THE MELBOURNE CENTENARY. The secretary of the New Zealand Golf Association has received programmes and entry forms for tho open, amateur and professional championships to be held on the course of tho Metropolitan Golf Club, Oakleigh, Victoria, from November 15 to November 24. In tho centenary open championship the professionals’ prizes, of which there are altogether 16, range from £IOOO to the winner, £4OO to the second, and £2OO to the third, and thirteen other smaller prizes aggregating, with those for the placed men, £2OOO. The leading amateur in this event will receive a gold cup. In the centenary amateur championship, 36 holes match play, the leading 16 amateurs in the open championship qualify to play and the first prize for this is also a gold cup. The centenary professional championship, also 36 holes match play, between the leading 16 professionals in the open will be played on 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 24th November, the first prize being £SOO, second £2OO, and six other prizes. Particulars have also been received by the New Zealand Golf Association of the British amateur golf championship and the open golf championship. The British amateur will be played on the Prestwick course commencing on May 21. The British open will be played on the course of the Royal St. George’s Golf Club at Sandwich on 27th, 28th and 29tb June.
