KAIRANGA COUNTY.

SOUND FINANCIAL POSITION. A statement of the ledger balances presented by the clerk (Air N. I. Nielsen) at to-day’s meeting of the Kairanga County Council showed the county finances to be in a sound position. Insofar as the riding accounts were concerned, tlie Taonui Riding showed a credit ot £967 13s lidthe Alangaone Riding a credit of £llls 15s 8d and the Fitzherbert Riding a credit of £374 2s. In accordance with the system or crediting the various plant accounts for the work performed and thereby establishing a replacement fund, the 14 plant accounts showed a total credit of £10,165 Os 9d. The tarred roads maintenance accounts showed a credit of £344 6s lid where the Mangaono Riding is concerned and £57 8s 5d for the Fitzherbert Riding. In respect to the sundry accounts, six showed credit balances aggregating £359 10s 7d, while five showed an aggregate debit balance of £7BB 5s 3d. Tlie cash at the bank in the county fund account as at March 31 was £9095 13s, while cash on fixed deposit was £3500. The clerk, however pointed out that of that amount £10,165 0s 9d belonged to the plant replacement accounts. , , “The position is much better tlian it was last year,” remarked Cr. A\ . R.
