HOSPITAL RATIONS
THE CONSUAIPTION. Provisions cost the Palmerston North Hospital £3762 last year, according to a report submitted to the board meeting yesterday afternoon. The average number of persons subsisted per day in institutions under the board’s control was 464.3.
The total weight of bread used was 67,2761b5., averaging 6.60z5. |>er day in the Hospital and 7.7 at the Awapuni Old People’s Home. The weight of butter used was 16,102 lbs.,. being 1.55 ozs. daily per person in the Hospital. Aleut and fish consumed totalled 94.8981b5., potatoes 71,3891b5. and sugar 23,5671b5. Average daily consumptions per person in the Hospital were 9.220z5. of meat and fish. 6ozs. of potatoes and 2.220z5. of sugar. Atilk used amounted to 222.689 gallons, Iseing an average of 1.24 pints for each person daily. It was explained to the board by the managing-secretary that the total issue of fnilk consumed by each Hospital patient was three times ns great as that by the ordinary healthy member of the public, and ample was available. Some 200.000 gallons a day would be necessary to bring the consumption of outside . consumers tip to the Hospital standard. If that were done, it would probably have an influence on the Hospital figures.
