DESCRIBED AS A SOLID PILLAR DESIGNED TO UPHOLD A MONOLITH OF INTELLECTUAL PROGRESS, the Dominion Museum and National Art Gallery had its foundation stone well and truly laid on the Mount Cook site, Wellington, by the Governor-General on Saturday. The building, the front section of which appears in the illustration, will form part of the general architectural scheme, which embraces the memorial carillon, which stands, sen tinel-like, in the foreground of the area.
