The Premier (General Hcrtzog) stated in the Assembly that he did not consider it necessary to consult the Commonwealth Governments regarding the Status Bill as it might be interpreted as a subordinating of sovereign rights to the wishes of the other members of the Commonwealth and would rightly be considered unconstitutional.
