MINERS ON STRIKE.
SOUTH AFRICAN TROUBLE. Received December 2, 10.50 a.m. JOHANNESBURG, Doc. 1. All attempts to settle the strike in the New State Areas mine have failed. The conference between the Chamber of Mines and the Mine Workers’ Union proved abortive and the situation is now likely to become unpleasant, since the mine management has informed the strikers that they will bo dismissed unless they return to work. Only five men have thus far resumed and tile others are collecting funds to continue the strike.
